European Commission’s Directorate-General Enterprise & Industry, Head of Unit SMEs: Clusters & Emerging Industries

Kirsi Ekroth-Manssila is the Head of the “SMEs: Clusters and Emerging Industries” Unit in DG Enterprise and Industry. In this function, she is responsible for cluster policy development, including cluster internationalisation and excellence.
She is also dealing with emerging industries and the Green Action Plan for SMEs. She was previously the Acting/Deputy Head of Unit of the Sustainable Industrial Policy and Construction Unit in the same Directorate-General where she was dealing with the Ecodesign and Energy labelling Directives, the Construction Products Regulation and competitiveness aspects of environment, energy and climate policies.
Since joining the Commission in 1996, she has worked for several years on SME policy. Her work experience before the Commission includes the banking sector and the paper industry.
Kirsi holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration.
